I knew this but remain experimenting. Last week, I took out the whole main fuel pump assembly, changed broken hoses and connectors, and re-install back using the OLD COPPER WASHER.
One or two crank, went under the car and check them. Petrol leaks, seeping through the old copper washer. Changed to a new ones, no more leaks. One might asked why? Why do we need to change copper washers?
Copper washers are designed such that it is bend-able or mesh-able. It will contour itself to either the nuts or banjo fittings once tightened. This creates the seal-ability. Because it gets contoured/meshed, thus it can be only used once!
The same concepts goes to other seals, o-rings, washers, and gaskets. Change them when you disassemble them.
COPPER WASHER CAN BE ONLY USED ONCE! GOOD DAY ALL!
