B230E Flame Trap Location

Hi all, just discover location of the flame trap. It is at the bottom; see images below.

This is close-up of the flame trap. Actually the flame trap is enclosed with a plastic cap which connected to 2 hoses; one big hose which goes into your air flow plate sensor and a small hose go up to intake manifold.

Seems like B230E uses plastic flame trap (B230K uses metal type). Ensure the flame trap is not clogged; clean it up! Clogged flame trap always causes over pressure for in-crankcase ventilation. This results in fast wear & tear of oil seals around the engine.

Good Day!

Did you need to take the intake manifold off to get to it? I have a 1991 245 and want to check my flame trap. Do you have a zoomed out pic of your first image to see where it is relative to the crank case?

Hi Greg,

Not so sure if intake manifold have to be taken off (most prob no) as 240s flame trap location is different from 740s/940s... Have sent you the image of where it should be on your 245!

Thanks for the pictures showing the location! Found it on my 94 940 non turbo; when I pulled the big tube off the top, there was no strainer on the inside; just an empty valve.
